Quiz club

On Friday 6th January 2 teams of children from West Leigh Junior School, both with representatives from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, took a trip to Heycroft to compete against each other, and 10 other teams, in area heat of Quiz Club. The children had gone through a rigorous selection progress to prove their general knowledge was tip top and had been training hard with Mrs London, giving up lunchtimes to hone their skills. They pitted these skills against teams from Bournes Green, Stock and Heycroft to name a few. Both teams started well but West Leigh Team 2 comprising of Logan Carr, Lilly Pavitt, Sebastian Rapley-Mende and Oliver Doel, started to pull ahead, battling fiercely with the other teams and answering a mixture of questions including science, geography, literature and current affairs worth up to 100 points. By the end of the first round West Leigh 2 were in quite comfortably in the lead with West Leigh Team 1 in third position behind Bournes Green Team 2. However things began to change in the final round where each question was worth either 80 or 100 points. Bournes Green Team 2 began to eat into West Leigh Team 2's lead and by question 6 had overtaken us. However the team rallied, were undaunted and after a nail biting final two questions, Team 2 were crowned the winners and took home winners pins and a trophy!! Team 1 made up of Harry Jeacock, Evie Grantham, Bonnie Spillane and Connor Lynch-Wyatt came a very respectable third. We are immensely proud of the hard work both the teams put in and the professional manner in which they conducted themselves. Team 2 will go forward to the regional heats later this year, exact date to be confirmed where we wish them continued success.
