Through our careers education, we prepare our children for future success in education, employment or training. In PSHE, we introduce the children to careers within the local community and encourage children to think about the skills and talents that they may have and wish to develop. We teach the children how to ‘sell themselves’ and write letters when applying for their dream job.

In addition to this, every two years we hold a Careers Day. This successful event introduces the children to a wide range of careers, from the creative to the academic. 

 

This year, as part of our Careers Day, we were all treated to an assembly with Georgia-Mae Fenton, an Olympic gymnast! She is member of both the British national gymnastics team and the England Commonwealth Games gymnastics squad. She inspired us all with her story of resilience and perseverance, which has led her to where she is today. We even got to hold her medals, which was very exciting!

 

Members of our local community came to share their careers with us throughout the day. These included a visit from the Hadleigh Farm Community Co-ordinator, who told us all about her day-to-day jobs when looking after the animals on the farm. We were also visited by our local MP, David Burton-Sampson, who shared an insight into what it is like to work in government.

 

We were fortunate to have many parents visit and share insights about their diverse professions. From doctors and engineers to artists and entrepreneurs, each parent brought a unique perspective, offering us a glimpse into various career paths. Their engaging presentations and personal stories not only broadened our understanding of different industries but also inspired us to think about our own future aspirations.
