PLAY

We have recently adopted a new approach to play, which is proving to be a great success. Research shows that children's mental and physical health is deteriorating rather than improving and that great play can make it better! During seven years at primary school, children spend 1.4 years at play! As a result, we want to make sure that we provide children with the best possible experience on our playground.

We have established different areas for children to play with a wide variety of new equipment. This is shared with the children through regular play assemblies, where children are shown how to play safely with the equipment and treat it with respect. We are also introducing the idea that children will assess risks for themselves when playing.

Some of the different equipment we are now using includes: fancy dress, building equipment, cardboard boxes, drawing, small world and role-play toys, Lego – and much more!

We are always in need of donations to refresh our equipment – items listed below are always welcome:

  • crates

  • fancy dress (including regular clothing in adult sizes)

  • small world items such as pots and pans, utensils, aprons, toy food, etc.

  • cloths/throws

  • tarpaulin

  • wheelie suitcases

  • car seats
