WEST LEIGH JUNIOR SCHOOL
PUPIL EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME
At West Leigh, we are committed to helping children develop a broad understanding of the world of work through our Pupil Employment Programme.
The programme supports children’s personal development by providing meaningful opportunities to take on responsibilities within the school community. Through a range of roles, children develop valuable life skills, build confidence and learn the importance of teamwork, reliability and service to others.
Children may take on positions such as reporters, capturing and sharing school events, or delivery operatives, helping to distribute messages and return lost property. These roles provide practical experience while making a positive contribution to daily school life.
To reflect real-life employment practices, all children complete an application form and participate in an interview process. This helps them develop important skills such as communication, self-presentation, and resilience. At the end of their term in post, children receive a reward of their choice in recognition of their commitment and hard work. Rewards may include experiences such as a movie afternoon or an ice cream party.
A list of available roles can be found below. Positions are advertised either annually or termly, depending on the specific requirements of each role.
