WEST LEIGH JUNIOR SCHOOL
ECONOMIC WELLBEING
We teach economic wellbeing within our maths curriculum to ensure children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage real-life financial situations. By exploring topics such as budgeting, saving, spending, and decision-making, children learn to apply mathematical reasoning in practical, meaningful contexts.
This approach enables children at West Leigh to develop financial literacy, make informed choices and understand the consequences of their decisions. Integrating economic wellbeing into maths also strengthens problem-solving, reasoning and analytical skills, ensuring pupils can approach challenges confidently and independently.
Through this, our curriculum promotes preparation for the next stage of education and life, helping children to become responsible, capable and financially aware citizens.
