HOMEWORK

Communication Books

Weekly spellings are stuck into the communication books and any homework tasks are detailed here, as well as on Showbie. Your child’s spelling results each week will be added to their communication book, with a cross indicating any errors.

The communication books can also be used to write messages to your child’s class teacher – please ensure that your child knows there is a message to be shared so that they can bring it to their teacher’s attention.

When you hear your child read, please initial on the reading record. Your child’s reading targets can be found within the communication book.

KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts)

Your child’s current KIRF will be recorded on page 10 of their communication book. KIRFS are vital skills that will be of great benefit to developing mathematicians. In order to enable pupils to be supported at home, we will be guiding you to a range of KIRFs during the year. These will

sometimes be new aspects of learning or consolidation of prior learning. More information on each KIRF, along with games and ideas for how these can be practised, can be found at Maths with a Mouse - Mental Maths with a Mouse (KIRFS).

Showbie

All classes will have a clearly labelled homework folder on Showbie, with folders allocated and dated for each week. Homework tasks and spellings will be added to these folders.

A ‘Parent’s Guide to Showbie’ can be found on our website using the following link: REMOTE LEARNING
