Art and Book Week

Our art and book week kicked off in style with the dressing up day. Our parents and children are to be congratulated for making this a day to remember after making such a huge effort to create such amazing costumes for their year group theme. The local press photographer was completely blown away by the creativity shown.

The Book Fair, which was open after school each day, was well attended. Again, the parents of West Leigh did us proud by supporting our children’s reading because we raised a magnificent £1760 with which to buy new books for the library and corridors. Our Y6 monitors are busy preparing the shelves for the new arrivals, which are currently being selected from the catalogue by our school councillors.

On Friday 2nd, Y6 took part in an unforgettable workshop presented by The Young Shakespeare Company. We have hosted this nationally acclaimed company for many years now but it was generally agreed that this collaborative performance of Twelfth Night, which had all the children mesmerised, was one of the best shows yet! The children (and adults) had so much fun and every one of them participated enthusiastically. The actors were very impressed. Well done to all pupils and staff for making our art and book week such a success!
