Rounders
On Friday 27th May, 10 year 6 children (5 boys 5 girls) attended the Southend rounders competition at Thorpe Hall. In beautiful sunshine, there were 7 schools there.
Our first game against Chalkwell we won 5 1/2 to 3. Our second game against Alleyn Court we won 7 1/2 to 4 with some excellent batting and fielding on display. Our third game against Blenheim we unfortunately lost 2 1/2 to 4. We made a few silly mistakes in that game but rallied round for our fourth game against Fairways which we won 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.
Our fifth game against Greenways was very close we managed to win 3 1/2 to 3! Our final game against Thorpe Hall had some excellent batting and fielding from both teams however we lost 2 to 7.
The scores were tallied and we had to wait a while for the results as there was a three way tie!
With all three schools finishing on the same points, it was then down to how many rounders scored!
Luckily we had scored one rounder more than Greenways and collected the silver medal. All the children showed excellent teamwork and improved their decision making during the games. With some impressive bowling and throwing and catching, well done to all.
The Essex finals are during Ilam Hall week so we wish Greenways and Thorpe Hall the best of luck.
Not bad for a school without a field!
