Quiz Club semi-finals

On May 3rd the West Leigh Quiz Club team travelled to Felsted Preparatory School to take part in the semi-final of the national general knowledge competition. There were 12 teams from all over the south east of England competing and it was an incredibly exciting event. For a long period of time from the start of the contest West Leigh were in the top three schools but there was one particular school leading consistently. However, as the competition entered the final round of more challenging questions, the West Leigh team took the lead and battled their way through the remaining questions to become the winners and qualify for the national final. It was an extremely impressive performance. The team worked very effectively collaborating and conferring and not getting disheartened if they didn’t perform as well as they might had hoped on any of the questions. It was also very clear that they were having a lot of fun. Which cannot be said for the teachers and family supporters who found the whole occasion nerve-racking and nail-biting! We are so proud that they have made it through to the national final (as we did last year) which will take place in a prestigious venue in London yet to be announced later this term. Congratulations and very well done to Thea Hawkins, Oliver Doel, Sebastian Rapley-Mende amd William Poxon.
