Southend Week
Last week, a number of Year six pupils participated in Southend Week. The group were impeccably behaved throughout and represented the school well when visiting the local area. On Monday, the children walked along Southend Pier, visited The Sealife Adventure and played crazy golf; there was even time for an ice-cream at the end of the pier! Super Sports - Track
On Tuesday 28th June our year 4 girls relay team, year 5 boys relay team and year 6 girls relay team competed in the borough super sports track events at Garon Park. All the teams won medals 3rd, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Some of our individual sprinters and long distance runners also received medals, 2nds and 3rds. Well done to all the children who took part and for representing West Leigh school in the Southend Borough finals.

Multi Sports Club
We've been having lots of fun in our morning multi-sports club with Years 3, 4 and 5! The children have enjoyed trying out new and exciting sports such as badminton, volleyball, table tennis and golf. It's been wonderful to see the children discovering hidden talents as the weeks go on! We're looking forward to seeing the children participate in even more sports over the next few weeks.

Super Sports - Field
Athletes from West Leigh Junior School experienced another incredibly successful day in the field events of Super Sports. The children were competing against some of the best athletes in Southend in their disciplines and did remarkably well! Borough Sports
After lots of training in school and at athletics club, some very talented athletes from Years 3-6 were selected to represent West Leigh Junior School at Borough Sports. In incredibly tough heat, all of the children did magnificently in their events and we are extremely proud of them! Another Playground Update!
This week the children were really excited to see some more new additions to the playground. A new 'ball shooter' was added to replace the one we had to remove - although this one looks very different! We also put in an additional climbing wall at the children's request. Careers Day 10th June 2022
Today the children took part in a careers day across the whole school. Over thirty volunteers from local businesses and the parent community came in to speak to the different classes about their career paths, what it is like to work in their career, the training they had to undertake, people who helped them along the way and much more. Year 6 Boys Cricket
On Thursday 9th June, 10 year 6 boys attended the Southend schools boys cricket competition at Garon park. Our first game against Our Lady of Lourdes we won 69-25 and were getting used to playing the new Dynamo cricket rules. Our second game against Bournes Green was much harder and we lost 15-34. Year 6 Girls Cricket
On Wednesday 8th June, ten year 6 girls took part in the Southend girls cricket competition at Garon Park. After a downpour thwarted Tuesdays practice session, we were looking forward to playing on the cricket pitches at Garons. The new dynamo cricket rules were being played which were new to all of us.
