Southend Week

Last week, a number of Year six pupils participated in Southend Week. The group were impeccably behaved throughout and represented the school well when visiting the local area. On Monday, the children walked along Southend Pier, visited The Sealife Adventure and played crazy golf; there was even time for an ice-cream at the end of the pier!

Horse riding was the highlight of Tuesday morning where the children each rode a horse around Belfairs Woods. The animal theme continued that afternoon when the children caught and released crabs down at Old Leigh.

The school kitchen was a hive of activity on Wednesday morning as the children cooked pizzas and cupcakes, as well as preparing vegetables which were then all taken along for a picnic. After lunch, we played a range of games over at Belfairs Fields.

On Thursday, the group spent the day with the Essex Wildlife Trust at Belfairs Woods, learning a range of survival skills; this included building a den, whittling wood, filtering water and they also learned about fire safety.

The week culminated in an exciting trip to Adventure Island where the children enjoyed the range of rides and experiences on offer. The Year 6 staff were impressed by the teamwork and comradery that the the children demonstrated as the week progressed and we very much enjoyed spending the week with them!
