The whole of the year 5/6 girls’ football team travelled to Fairways to play a friendly and league match on Wednesday,14th January. The league match was a tough battle between both teams with plenty of tackles and defensive blocks making it difficult for both teams to get a shot at goal. In the second half, West Leigh had a few chances but with the keeper pulling off some great saves and the ball going wide on a number of occasions, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.  On the other pitch West Leigh had a great match scoring three goals in the first half. The team had to work harder in the second half with Fairways managing to score a few goals, however they continued to play with confidence and finished victorious with a 5-3 win. Both teams played fantastic football and put all their hard work from training into the matches, demonstrating great team work, confidence and ability to adapt and change their attacking play to get shots at goal. Next up in the league is Thorpe Hall School.
