West Leigh Success in Leigh Music Festival
Children from Year 4 and 5 represented West Leigh Junior School recently at the Leigh Music Festival. They performed a varied collection of recorder pieces as part of the Woodwind and Brass section of the festival. The adjudicator for the afternoon was Joy Farrall, who is a professor at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.

Southend Makes Music
This week West Leigh Junior School children performed to full house at the popular 'Southend Makes Music' concert series at the Palace Theatre. These sell-out concerts are an annual event designed to "celebrate the diversity and talent of young musicians from Southend schools and ensembles ranging from 6 to 18 years old". On Saturday 19th November, members of the Boys' Choir had the opportunity to perform at the delightful "Actors' Church" at Covent Garden. The Choir sang six songs to a packed and enthusiastic audience. Festival success for West Leigh
On Friday, children from Years 3, 4 and 5 represented West Leigh Junior School in the recorder classes of the Leigh Music Festival. This annual event, along with the Southend Festival in November, provides us with the opportunity to share our music-making with the local community and receive feedback from a guest judge. Recorder masterclass
Yesterday the Year 3 and 4 children were very lucky to be given the opportunity to watch a recital from international recorder superstar Piers Adams. He had the children in the palm of his hand as he talked through his musical background and showed them a selection of his recorders, some which dated back many years.
