Year 4 Southend on Sea field trip
Continuing with their ‘Wish You Were Here’ topic, our year four children were very excited to travel to Southend by train this half term to take part in the geography field study. After a lot of preparation in class, the children completed footfall surveys, building use surveys, questionnaires and also made field sketches of different scenes around Southend seafront. It was one of the windiest days of the year but the children marched on and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They spent time on the High Street and along the seafront including the Kursaal, Adventure Island and Southend Pier. They conducted themselves extremely well as they stopped members of the public to ask them questions about their local town and returned with a range of data. Once back in the classroom the classes have been analysing the data and have used the information to put forward suggestions on ways to improve the town. The children were a credit to the school.
