Year 4 Tag Rugby Competition

On Wednesday, twelve Year 4 children played in the Southend Year 3/4 Tag Rugby competition at Southend Rugby Club.

Our first game against Our Lady of Lourdes was a close match, finishing 3-3. We had to get used to playing on grass and on such a large pitch. Our second game against Bournemouth Park resulted in a win of 7-1, with some excellent tagging and try-scoring. We also won our third game against St Helen’s, 6-0. The final game in our group was very close but we managed to win 4-3 against Earls Hall. We came top of our group and went through to the quarter finals where we played Prince Avenue which we won 5-1. Our semi-final game against St. Michaels ended with a score of 7-2 which meant we were in the final, having to face Our Lady of Lourdes again!

This was another very close game with some excellent teamwork throughout but despite a huge effort, we lost 3-2, finishing in the silver medal position.

A huge well done to all the children involved; they improved throughout the morning and enjoyed the experience of playing as a team on the grass for the first time. A big 'thank-you' once again to our parents for helping to get the children to the event.
