Year 4 Tag Rugby
On Wednesday this week 12 year 4 children attended the tag rugby competition at Southend Rugby Club.
With sun, rain and hailstones to contend with the children showed great resilience and determination.
Our first game against Thorpe Hall we won 7-3, our next game against Chalkwell we won 6-2 and the last game in our group we drew 5-5 with Greenways.
Through to the super 8’s we then played Our Lady of Lourdes which we won 6-4, we then went on to play Bournes Green which we won 4-2. We then played Hamstel which was a brilliant game which we lost by one try, 2-1.
Into the semifinals which was a very close match against Fairways which went into extra time where we managed to win 7-5.
Into the final against Hamstel again with some excellent tries and tagging from both teams the game finished 5-3 with us just missing out on winning the match.
With a very credible second place all the children should be very proud of their achievement. This was the first time they had played eight a-side on grass with a proper rugby ball!
Well done to all and a huge thank you as always to our parents for staying and cheering the children on.
