Table tennis competition

On Wednesday 26th September, 8 pupils from West Leigh Junior School took part in the Southend Primary Schools Sports Association ‘table tennis’ competition.

In the morning, the boys performed extremely well, often battling back to win games that seemed lost. The boys battled against some incredibly strong competition, winning 5 of their 8 matches , which placed them in a creditable 4th position.

The afternoon saw the girls in action. The matches were often very close and exciting, featuring some superb serving from our girls. At the end of the ‘round robin’ they had achieved a points total which placed them in equal 2nd position. In order to place one of the schools in 2nd and the other in 3rd a count back of individual games took place, which meant that the final position for West Leigh was 3rd. The girls were delighted with their bronze medals.

In addition to achieving good results, both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and supported their team members throughout the competition.
