Southend Music Festival

Young recorder players from West Leigh Junior School performed at the Southend Music Festival this week. Children from Year 4, 5 and 6 worked very hard to prepare solos, duets and trios. The Upper School Recorder Group were praised by the adjudicator, who said, “… all of your hard work showed in a beautifully presented, well known and expertly played performance”. We also took the Year 4 Recorder Group who also won their age category. Their feedback was also very impressive: “This is very promising and very well disciplined playing from a young group.” Congratulations also must go to Georgia Baker and Kathryn Hall for winning their duet class and Sebastian Rapley Mende for his trophy-winning solo. Freddie Dawson, Emily Chaston and Sebastian also won first place for their trio piece, ‘Lovely Nancy’. Thank you to Mrs Gentleman for rehearsing with the children and to their parents for supporting them.
