Year 5 Poetry presentation

As part of their recent work on poetry, the Year 5 children created choral performances based on four different poems where they took their audiences on a train journey, to a spooky inn, aboard a ship and up a beanstalk. After learning about a range of poetic devices, the children were encouraged to consider ways of using their voices to achieve different effects. They found that by varying their tone, pitch, volume and pace, they were able to create effective performances which brought each poem to life whilst developing the use of actions to tell each story visually. The children also had to learn a number of words by heart, which they all did extremely well, enabling them to perform their poems with confidence and poise!
