Hockey tournament

On a very cold and grey morning of Tuesday 5th February we entered a year 6 team into the emerging hockey festival at Southend Hockey club. We played Thorpe Hall, St Michaels, Alleyn Court and Darlinghurst the children lost two games and won two games. (Lost 1-0, 1-0 and won 1-0 and 3-0).They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing on the Astro turf and improved as the morning went along.

In the afternoon we entered a team into the main hockey competition, we played our first game and lost to Fairways 4-1,we thawed out a little and then played Bournes Green and unluckily lost 1-0 to them. We then played Thorpe Hall and won this 1-0. We were re grouped later in the afternoon and struggled to score a goal drawing two games 0-0, playing Greenways and Thorpe Hall again. Our final game was against Earls Hall which we were unlucky to lose 1-0. The children adapted well to playing on the Astro turf and showed good sportsmanship during the competition. Well done to both teams.
