Sitting Volleyball

On Wednesday West Leigh competed in the Sitting Volleyball competition at Graons Sports Centre. The team was made up of 9 players with 6 on the court for each match, with the team trying to be the first to score 15 points to win each match. They had 6 matches to play and these were very close games, with the lead swapping several times in each match, unfortunately the team only managed to secure 1 win however they were the only team to beat St. Mary’s who went on to win the tournament. The other games were very close with the team only losing by a few points in some the games. 

Once the medal presentation was done there was just 1 match left to play, this being the biggest match of the competition, children V teachers! With approx. 70 children against about 20 teachers, it was a tough battle but some how the teachers took the win!

All the children had so much fun learning and developing their skills playing competitively in a new sport and can be very proud of their achievements.
