SPSSA Cross Country Tournament
On Wednesday 2nd October, West Leigh took 46 children from across the school to take part in the Southend Primary School Sports Association Cross Country Tournament. The children were running in teams as well as individuals. Each year group had their own race split into a girls’ race and a boys’ race, with year 3 and 4 running 1km and year 5 and 6 running 1.5km. With 26 schools taking part and up to 156 children in each race, they were all highly competitive races. Determination and perseverance were clear to see with the children’s efforts throughout each race. All teams and individuals performed exceptionally well, with a number of athlete’s qualifying for the Essex finals as teams and individuals.
