Southend Week 2018

This year, our action-packed week was made even more special due to fantastic weather and a wonderful group of children who were intent on making the most of every moment! On Monday, we took the train up to London and had a brilliant river cruise with the best commentator ever – he shared all of the river’s secrets with us and kept us interested all the way to Greenwich. Once there, we raced under the river through a ‘secret tunnel’ then spontaneously re-enacted “Andy’s coming!” on the grass – passers-by probably thought there had been a Zombie attack! This started a theme which carried on throughout the week and showed what a ‘connected’ group they had already become. We then climbed the hill to the Royal Observatory and had fun and games up there as well as our Tom Palmer World Cup Storytime under the ‘fat tree’. For the rest of the week, the children continued to fully engage with all of the scheduled activities: horse riding, trampolining, bowling, crazy golf, a visit to the Sea-life Centre, a fabulously hand-prepared banquet lunch and swimming in the sea! Each day was topped off with the obligatory round of ice cream. Friday arrived much too quickly but we did have a glorious final day at Adventure Island – one of the sunniest yet! The children were wonderfully behaved and a delight to be with: they made us very proud.
