The Year 5 and 6 football team competed in the Southend Girls Football Competition on Thursday 6th October 2016. The girls played many games against other schools and were an outstanding credit to the school! After being placed in a tough group, the team tried their hardest in their first two games but unfortunately lost both 1-0. Needing a win to have a chance of qualifying, the team pulled together to achieve a fantastic 1-0 victory in their third game. In the final group game the girls were aware that only another victory would give them a chance at a medal in the afternoon. Unfortunately, despite lots of effort, the team couldn’t get the win required. Knowing a medal wasn’t a possibility, the girls remained positive for the afternoon when three more fixtures were scheduled. Playing with a new confidence, the team performed outstandingly to win two and draw one of the afternoon’s games. They displayed great skills throughout an should be very proud of their efforts.
