
Southend Netball Finals
On Thursday this week, eight Year 6 girls were invited to play in the Year 6 Southend netball finals. Our first game was a close game against Our Lady of Lourdes which we won 5-3. We then played Leigh North Street who were a very strong team, we lost 8-1. We needed to beat Bournemouth Park to go through as runners up. We were very determined and beat them 5-0. Southend Cross Country competition
On Wednesday 27th April, the children that qualified from the Southend Cross Country competition travelled to Garons Park to compete in the Essex Cross Country Finals. We had our year 4, 5, 6 Girls and year 5 boys teams qualify and a number of children competing individually in each year group. Each race had about 150 children from across the borough competing. Sports Hall Athletics Competition
On Friday 22nd April, West Leigh competed in both the year 3/4 and year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics, with the year 3/4 tournament in the morning and the year 5/6 tournament in the afternoon. Both tournaments consisted of six track events and six field events where the athletes were only allowed to compete in a maximum of two track and two field events. Essex Met Primary Swim Gala
On Thursday 21st April nine children travelled to the London Aquatics Centre to compete in the Essex Met Primary Swim Gala. They all took part in a number of individual and team races of various distances. All the children worked incredibly hard finishing 2nd. Everyone enjoyed the event and the opportunity to swim in the Olympic diving pool.

Portals to the Past
This week, all of the Year 3 children were treated to a wonderful ‘Portals to the Past’ workshop with Gary the Greek!
