Southend District Table tennis competition

The 'table tennis' team have been in action again this week. Four members of the squad represented the school at the Southend District Competition held at Thorpe Hall School. After a very difficult first match, losing 4 0, the boys managed to draw all of their following, competitive matches. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed going through to the 'play off' round. Congratulations to all the boys for their great sportsmanship and for consistently supporting each other throughout the games. #year6 #Year6 #Wholeschool

Year 5 departed after school heading to Stubbers where we were greeted by the Staff who helped the children discover their camps. After a hearty meal we had some time on the field to play games while Mr Nash valiantly tried to light the bonfire. Having gathered for songs and stories around the campfire, the next hour passed very quickly as the flames got bigger. Following the campfire we were off to bed - which for some took longer than others! On Thursday we had a healthy breakfast before heading off to our activities. Some groups faced the challenge of working as a team, some climbed the towers, aimed at the archery targets whilst others tackled the water based activities of Katu-Kan

Table Tennis competition

On Monday 18th September a group of boys from the table tennis squad went to Friars School for a competition. The boys played extremely well against very strong competition. After five rounds of games, Friars were victorious by three games to two. Congratulations to all the boys who participated for demonstrating super table tennis skills as well as great sportsmanship. Thank you too, to the supporters.

Gemma's Farm visit Year 3

On Monday 11th September, Year Three enjoyed the visit of Gemma’s Farm! The farm included many farmyard animals including a Shetland pony, goats, sheep, chickens and even ferrets! Each class had an hour to explore the animals and learnt lots of interesting facts about these animals including their importance on a farm. All of the children had the opportunity to pet and hold many of the animals, a highlight for the majority of the children was the opportunity to hold day old chicks! The children are all now very excited to learn more about the animals of our world in our topic ‘Amazing Animals’.
